Tatiana J. Zylik; age 87, died peacefully at her home on July 7, 2012 after a brief illness. She was born in Lithuania on January 25, 1925, the daughter of Winsef and Matruna Mazuro. She was a graduate of Phillips University in Marburg, Germany where she also met her future husband, Michael K. Zylik, M.D.
Mrs. Zylik was a former graduate assistant professor at the Hastings College at the Univeristy of Nebraska. She was fluent in three languages and was known for her love of music. Titiana was active at her church, Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church in Detroit, and sang in the church choir for many years. She also was a longtime patron of the Grosse Pointe Symphony and the Menninger Clinic in Houston, Texas.
Mrs. Zylik is survived by her daughter Margaret Zylik and her son, Joseph M. Zylik, D.D.S. She was predeceased by her husband Michael K, M.D. in 2008 and her son Alexander M.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue at Vernier Road in Grosse Pointe Woods. A prayer service will begin at 7:30 p.m. Fr. Andrew Yavornitsky, Pastor of St. Mark Orthodox Church in Rochester Hills will officiate. A private family interment will be on Thursday at White Chapel Cemetery in Troy.
