Claude R. Garvey, age 88, died Monday, July 9, 2012.He was born September 6th, 1923 in Detroit, Michigan the son of Claude and Pearl(nee Rossitter)Garvey. He married Martha (nee Ginsky) on August 15, 1947 in Bethel Evangelical Church in Detroit, MI. They have been residents of Warren for 53 years.
Claude is a veteran of the US Navy and served as
an aviation radioman on the USS Lunga Point, Aircraft Carrier during WWII. He was employed by Fisher Body for 41 years and retired in 1982. He also was employed by Center Line High School as a para-professional, a member of Masonic Union Lodge # 3, and a former president of Warren Estate Home Owners Assoc. Claude was very instrumental in acquiring funding for the establishment of South Macomb Hospital. In addition to his devotion to his family Claude enjoyed perch fishing at their cottage in Caseville.
Beloved husband of Martha for 64 years. Loving father of Claudia (William) Schnur and Claude "Sam" (Tammy) Garvey. Proud grandfather of Jonathon Schnur, Jacob Schnur, Alyssa Schnur, Ashley Schnur, Jeffrey Fraus, Colten Garvey, and Sydnee Garvey. Brother of Florence Deimling, Thelma Noll, and the late Marie Muzik, Robert Garvey, and Frank William Garvey. Brother-in-law of Kay Garvey and Mary Lou Garvey. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held 10:30am on Friday, July 13, 2012 at the A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr Rd. at Masonic, Warren. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 11, 2012 from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm and Thursday, July 12, 2012 from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm and from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm.
Entombment at Cadilac Memorial Gardens East with Military Honors.
