Frank J. Horstmann, age 83, died at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital on Saturday, September 8, 2012. He was born Monday, May 27, 1929 in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Frank was a devoted Navy Pilot from 1946 until his honorable discharge in 1954. He served in World War II. After his service in the Navy, Frank went on to graduate from the University of Detroit with a Bachelors Degree in Engineering. From there he went on to work for Ford Motor Company as a Mechanical Engineer until his retirement.
Frank enjoyed flying and sailing. He was a member of the GP Power Squadron as well as a charter member of the American Sailing Institute.
Beloved husband of Janet Curle. Loving father of Frank "Skip", Karon Chrickmore, Randy, Nancy Hunter, Lynn Opalewski, Timothy and the late Kurt (Teresa). Proud grandfather of 15 and great-grandfather of 2.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at 12:00pm at the A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave. at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods.
Visitation will be held Monday, September 10, 2012 from 3:00-9:00pm at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Henry Ford Hospice.
